Imozer village is one of many Berber settlements that nestle in the deep valleys of the High Atlas.
Only a 2 hour drive away from Marrakech, Imozer is a world apart, a world that has little changed in centuries.
True, electricity has arrived in to the village but the farming activities and the crops miraculously produced in the harsh landscape in which the village sits are as they have always been through generations.
This Highlight Special allows you not only to travel amongst the spectacular high peak scenery of the High Alas but it also gives plenty of time to spend time in the Imozer Valley, gently strolling the landscape and meeting the Berbers, in their fields and orchards and in their homes.

The journey begins by leaving Marrakech and driving out across the Marrakech Plain towards the foothills of the High Atlas. To then travel in to the High Atlas mountains is to enter a wonderful Moroccan landscape.
The mountains rise almost sheer to high summits of ridges and sharp dramatic peaks. the N9 road snakes through the mountains, its construction quite an achievement in such a challenging environment.

In the many steep sided river valleys of the High Atlas, many traditional Berber villages and farms are seen, set in glorious landscape settings.
Older buildings are of pisé mud, with flat roofs and small windows, the windows having attractive metalwork screens across them.
As well as taking time to enjoy stops along the way, the main goal is Imozer Berber village. it is in the village and its environs that most time will be spent. We branch off the N9 and drive towards the friendly village on píse, a gravel road.
After some welcoming mint tea, much time will then be spent strolling around the farmland of the village, seeing what is grown, learning how it is grown and appreciating the huge efforts gone to in order to gain good harvests.
Accompanied by an Anzal Tours Guide (English speaking) as well as a Berber villager, many questions can be asked.
This is a day of immersion in another culture, another way of life.
